Programmer, Applications Perspecta has an immediate need in our US Public Sector group for a Programmer, Applications in Washington, D.C. Under general direction, devise or modify procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time and form of desired results. Design, code, test, debug and document those programs. Analyze functional business applications and design specifications for functional activities. Develop block diagrams and logic flow charts. Translate detailed design into computer software. Test, debug and refine the computer software to produce the required product. Prepare required documentation, including both program-level and user-level documentation. Enhance software to reduce operating time or improve efficiency. Provide technical direction to lower level programmers to ensure program deadlines are met. Perform all functional duties independently. Work on high-visibility programs, or mission critical aspects of assigned program(s). Oversee the efforts of direct reporting resources andor is responsible for the efforts of all staff assigned to a specific job. Qualifications Required A degree from an accredited CollegeUniversity in Software Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline is preferred. A minimum of ten (10) years experience in software development andor related field. Ability to perform all functional duties independently on high-visibility programs or mission critical aspects of a given program. Oversee the efforts of direct reporting resources andor be responsible for the efforts of all staff assigned to a specific job. Experience in training, mentoring and providing technical direction to less experienced personnel. Extensive experience with designing, coding, testing, debugging and documenting software solutions to complex problems concerning computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time and form of desired results. Strong experience in analyzing complex business applications, develop block diagrams and logic flow charts and translate detailed design into software. Solid experience with performance tuning software to reduce execution time or improve efficiency. Considerable experience authoring or contributing to both program-level and user-level software-related documentation such as requirements specifications, design documents, technical manuals and user manuals. Excellent communication skills. Candidate cannot have more than 6 months travel outside the United States within the last five years, military service excepted.
