The Food and Drug Law Institute (FDLI) is seeking a Director, Membership and Stakeholder Engagement. This senior-level position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of FDLI's membership program and ensuring that the organization's programmatic offerings align with what members and other stakeholders seek from FDLI.
FDLI is a nonprofit membership organization that offers education, training, publications, and professional engagement opportunities in the field of food and drug law. FDLI's scope covers all industries regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and related agencies, including drugs, medical devices, food, dietary supplements, cosmetics, veterinary, and tobacco products.
As a membership organization, FDLI offers organization-wide memberships to companies and firms, and individual memberships to sole practitioners, academics, and government employees. FDLI's organizational membership is comprised of large and small manufacturing and distribution companies, consultant companies, and law firms. Member organizations represent the food, medical products, and tobacco industries, as well as the dietary supplement, cannabis, and veterinary medicine sectors. Membership dues reflect about 25-30% of FDLI's overall revenue. The bulk of FDLI's revenue comes from its various educational programs, which are available to both members and non-members.
Specific responsibilities of the Director include: Overseeing all aspects of FDLI's membership program, including retention of current members and recruitment of new members; Prioritizing and arranging for membership meetings for the CEO; Researching and conducting outreach to organizations with potential to be FDLI members; Conducting telephone and in-person meetings to promote FDLI to potential members; Working closely with CEO and Director, Educational Programs and Director, Publications, to create new \"members only\" opportunities; Working with COO and the administrative staff to ensure that annual membership renewal and new member invoicing is proceeding appropriately; Working with Director, Technology and Digital Strategy to ensure that the website is designed in a way that promotes membership opportunities; Supervising one membership manager who assists with the administrative aspects of the membership program; Attending five to seven FDLI conferences a year to engage with current and potential members; Arranging out-of-town membership events, often in conjunction with educational programs and conferences; Continually assessing membership dues and benefits to ensure a viable program; Working collaboratively with the other senior staff to ensure support of FDLI organizational goals; Working closely with the CEO to engage the Board of Directors, as appropriate, in membership recruitment; and Participating in a Board of Directors committee convened to assess FDLI membership benefits and value and establish strategic goals for future growth. Qualifications/Skills/Abilities: 4-year degree required Minimum of five years of experience in membership area Proven ability to work with teams and lead Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational and interpersonal skills Supervisory/managerial experience preferred FDLI offers a competitive salary and generous benefits package.
