SUMMARY OFDUTIES:

The Lead Systems Developerposition entails monitoring, administration, oversight andincremental enhancement of Amtraks transportation platform andapplications. Daily tasks include responding to change and troubletickets, monitoring the platform for failures, exceptions andthreshold issues, tuning and optimizing applications performance,testing applications for product upgrades and patches,communicating with customers and upper management about platformand/or ticket status, and working on occasional minor enhancementsas remaining work capacityallows.

The Lead SystemsDeveloper works on major projects providing subject matterexpertise and technical direction and is also responsible forsystems analysis, design, development, integration, andenhancement. The Lead Systems Developer works closely withcustomers, business analysts and team members to understand thebusiness requirements that drive the analysis and design of qualitytechnical solutions. These solutions must be aligned withbusiness and IT strategies and are in compliance with theorganizations architecturalstandards.

ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS:

  • Works onprojects that may span a broad range of systems. Requires expertisein multiple technical environments and possesses an increased levelof business knowledge.
  • Responsibilitiesinclude, but may not be limited to, thefollowing:
  • Consults in the project planningprocess with customers, IT business analysts, architects and teammembers.
  • Organizes and documents technicalrequirements. Creates technical design specifications and assistsin sizing technical requirements.
  • Works withcustomers to develop and analyze application packages and tools anddetermine optimum functionality requirements to meet those needs.
  • Evaluates new application packages andtools.
  • Provides multiple recommendations forthe solutions.
  • Evaluates existing applicationsand platform and provides recommendations for system enhancementsby conducting gap analysis, identifying feasible alternativesolutions, and assisting in the scope ofmodifications.
  • Participates on teams thatoutline the process and scope out the improvements that can berealized through the application solution.
  • Maylead the deployment of new modules, upgrades andfixes.
  • Implements integration plans. Interfaces with testing teams to incorporate plans intointegration testing process.
  • Defines, developsor modifies software application modules or enterprise widesoftware systems using disciplined development processes.
  • Identifies better sources of data feedsand interfaces with architects to ensure their feasibility withcorporate data warehouse, whenneeded.
  • Documents functions and changes to newor modified modules, test activities/results and other areas suchas error handling and backup/recoveryprocedures.
  • Adheres to quality standards andprocedures. Reviews modules for quality assurance and checkscompliance with application architecture standards and SLAs.
  • May assist in defining developmentguidelines and standards to be utilized in softwaredevelopment/integration.
  • Makes modulesproduction-ready by moving them to libraries, completing forms,following procedures, completing version control documents,etc.
  • Provides ongoing maintenance ofapplications.
  • May produce and analyze dataextracts from system based on userrequirements.
  • Assists in the development ofuser guides and trainingdocumentation.
  • Provides technicalleadership coaching and mentoring to team members. Providestechnical guidance or system processexpertise.
  • Develops reports andpresentations for senior management, asneeded.
  • The Lead Systems Developer will providesoftware development support for Amtrak ITs Distributed Systemsand Application Development (DSAD) team, responsible for thesystems supporting Amtrak Station Agents and ContactCenters.
  • MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS:

  • BachelorsDegree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or businessmanagement and 7-10 yearsexpereice.
  • Extensive experience programmingand/or systems analysis experience. Have a broad level ofunderstanding surrounding information systems and applicationarchitecture standards.
  • Perform development ofcustomer enhancements, and maintenance tasks using expertise withSQL Server, Oracle, VB .Net, and SSRS.
  • Abilityto work well under deadlines and in a flexibleenvironment.
  • Demonstrated ability to performall essential functions. (See above)
  • Must haveleadership skills, experience/in-depth knowledge of businessoperations and systems requirements processes including ability tomeasure short- and long-term businessgoals.
  • Must possess the ability toutilize adaptable communication skills to effectively translatebetween technical and business language.
  • Mustpossess the skill to educate project team members on business unitgoals and objectives and educate the business on the value ofinformation technology.
  • Ability to identify,propose and oversee the execution of business solutions as well asinterpret
  • documents communicating businessneeds and requirements.
  • Must possess the skillto assess the client needs through direct interaction, and identifyopportunities to develop the business through effective use oftechnology.
  • 4-6 years experience as a hands-ondeveloper and architect within the Salesforce domain with proventrack record in delivering complexprojects
  • Recommendedcertifications:Salesforce CertifiedAdministrator Salesforce Certified AdvancedAdministratorSalesforce Certified PlatformDeveloper ISalesforce Certified PlatformDeveloperII
  • Developmentand/or systems administration experience and broad understanding ofthe following Salesforce products andtechnologies
  • Service Cloud, Community Cloud,Marketing Cloud, Sales Cloud,Force.com
  • Role Based Access Control, andPermission Sets
  • LightningContainer, Lightning UX Builder
  • LightningFlow including Process Builder and Cloud FlowDesigner
  • Platform Events, Async REST,Sync REST, and Continuation Framework(integration)
  • Knowledge Salesforce DX(dev hub)
  • Platform App Builder, PlatformDeveloper, Data Architecture and Management Designer andIntegration Architecturedomains
  • Salesforce Visualforce, Apex,SOQL/SOSL
  • Wave and EinsteinAnalytics
  • Experience in deployingSalesforce products and technologies deployed in the Servicesindustry
  • Expertise creating andintegrating Salesforce External Services, External Objects and useof Salesforce Connect using OData with internal APIs andmicro-services
  • PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellenttroubleshooting skills
  • Background intransportation or logistics
  • Knowledge of Amtraktransportation systems such as OTP (on time performance),Operations portal, and EfficiencyTESTS
  • Knowledge with Sencha 4 orhigher
  • Knowledge withJava
  • Knowledge of Websphere Experience with Release Management, Source Control, andDeployment concepts and technologies such as ANT, SFDC MetadataAPI, Jenkins, SVN
  • Development usingVisualForce, APEX, triggers, Classes, Java Script, LightningAPI
  • Hands-on mobile developmentexperience
  • Good UI/UX skills includingunderstanding of User centered design and ADAcompliance
  • A particular desire to continuallystudy new technologies and functionality, as well as be involved inprojects that push the capabilities of existingtechnologies
