Summary/Objective

The Senior Administrative Assistant coordinates the daily functions of the Academic Support and Access Center s (ASAC) front office, including frontline activities involving customer service, administrative support, communications, technology, and the maintenance of confidential student records. This position is often the first point of contact representing the ASAC to the university community and the public.

Work Environment

  • This position reports to the Coordinator, Operations and Administration
  • Reporting directly to this position are a part-time administrative assistant and 5-6 work-study student staff assistants

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • 35-Nonexempt
  • Specialist B

Salary Range

  • $18. 55 - $21. 50/hr

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor s degree
  • Two years administrative experience working in a fast-paced front office
  • Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively with students, parents, faculty, and the public
  • Technology experience including MS Office; proven ability to quickly learn new software
  • Ability to work independently and perform multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Well-developed written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Able to work collaboratively as a member of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to use independent judgment and discretion with minimal supervision
  • The ability to deal properly with confidential material

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience in higher education and knowledge of university resources
  • Experience working in a confidential setting
  • Experience with online scheduling and data management systems
  • Experience with Colleague
  • Understanding of students with disabilities and relevant needs
  • Demonstrated editing and proofreading skills
  • Ability to plan, set priorities and follow through on complex tasks; supervisory experience
  • Supervisory experience
